Observing the growing popularity of Zoom across the world, Google has made its premium video conferencing platform Google Meet free for everyone. You can also create a free account for this and it will start in May.
To use this video calling service of Google, subscription charges had to be paid. Now, Google has said in one of its blog posts that Google Meet is being made free for users across the world.
It is worth noting that till now, Google Business or Education account was required to use the Google Meet app. But now, common users can sign up with any of their Gmail IDs. Also, it can be used free of cost on all three sites including Web, Android, and iPhone.
The specialty of Google Meet is that through this, 100 people can be added to a single video call. Because of the Coronavirus epidemic, there is a situation of lockdown in the world. In such a situation, video calling is being used the most these days during work from home. People are also using video calling very frequently to connect with their family and friends.
Google has said in its blog post that Google Meet can be signed in via email from early May. In this, most of the same features will be available to business and education users. These include simple scheduling, real-time captions, screen sharing, and layout features.
The special thing is that Google Meet is going to be free forever. According to a report by Bloomberg, Google Meet product director Smita Hashim has said that it will run like Gmail, video conferencing has become an essential service.
